In April, Emily & Alice of SAGES embarked on a trip to Shanghai to meet manufacturers and understand further how our manufacturing process can be replicated at scale. This trip was a great learning experience and opportunity to conduct market research and connect with machinery and equipment production facilities. We took some of our dyes with us on the trip so that we could fully explain how they needed to perform and we were able to test equipment first hand to understand how we could tweak and adapt it to exactly suit our needs. Especially beneficial was the ability to adapt the equipment for small floor footprint, simple cleaning, and easy change-over so that we can produce continually runs of different colours without the need for a completely new set-up.

The trip was extremely beneficial and the equipment we tested will form the basis of our new production line. It was however a flying visit and with only three full days in Shanghai it is safe to say that jet lag was not our friend!

The connections we've built have proved invaluable in just the past few months so we're excited to see where these new partnerships can take us.
